Nantucket Nuptials

Dress-BCBG, Earring-Anthropologie, Clutch- DVF,  Shoes- B Brian Atwood

So a week from  tomorrow I am going to a wedding in Nantucket. For weeks I have been racking my brain about what exactly to wear. The overwhelming response to an informal survey was- Vintage!

Now I'm not really a vintage kind of girl, especially when it comes to clothing.  I think this is mainly because I lack the patience to scour the racks for that perfectly fitting, stain free piece and also because I tend to gravitate towards styles that are more modern.

Then I came across this amazing BCBG dress from the runway collection that seemed to marry vintage and modern, neon and pastel (I'm totally obsessed with mint and neon yellow), and be both pretty and edgy at the same time.

Once I found the dress all of the other elements quickly came together. I am beyond excited to rock this outfit and to celebrate the nuptials of my good friend Deja!

Women Enough Bare Event + Breezy Black

Last Thursday I skipped Fashion's Night Out, one of my favorite events of the year, to attend Women Enough's unveiling of their "Bare" add campaign to promote healthy and diverse body image and self esteem in Women. I was lucky enough to participate in the add campaign. It was an amazing experience with a diverse group of lovely women and lots of sexy shoes!

The picture above is one of my favorite shots from the Bare campaign and perfectly shows off all the amazing shoes. I wore my own pair of Prada color block heels for the occasion.

When I was deciding what to wear for the event I naturally started with the shoes I wore for the photo shoot. A breezy strapless black dress from BCBG and subtle cat eye makeup completed the look.

There were some awesome prizes raffled off at the event including a $100 Show & Tell gift certificate and a massage.

Several of the ladies at the event were rocking some seriously sexy shoes. I snapped a couple pics of the fashionable footwear.

Bold Black and Blue + Touches of Tribal

Saturday was a great day. The weather was wonderful so I was out and about in the morning running errands and I ended the day in my favorite place, the theater. On this particular evening I was fortunate to be an audience member cheering on my friend Phaedra as she lives her dream in Coastal Repertory Theatre's production of  RENT. I love getting dressed for the theatre because I get a chance to pull out pieces that I don't wear everday. The performance was in Half Moon Bay which is beautiful, but notoriously foggy and cold most of the year- thank god I brought a jacket!

My mom made this awesome clutch which I carry all the time! I love the earthy yet geometric print and because it is black and white it looks good with everything. The ring is from Made Her Think, one of my favorite brands and I've collected the bracelets over the years.

Vintage earrings courtesy of my mom's jewelry collection. I find some of my favorite pieces shopping in her closet!

I absolutely adore these Cynthia Vincent shoes and have them in two different colors. I am kind of a sucker for the color and pattern of African and African inspired textiles.

I love the color of my silk tank from the Factory and the leather racerback detail adds a little edge. Unfortunately it was so cold in Half Moon Bay that I kept my jacket on the whole night. I'm gonna have to rock this tank again soon so everyone can see just how fly it really is!

Retail Math Lesson #2: Going for Gucci

I am kind of feeling a '70s disco vibe this week. The seed was planted earlier in the week when I created a Disco inspired bridal look taking cues from Bianca Jagger and the Spring '11 runways, where white and '70 styles had a major moment.

From there the next natural step was to tackle recreating a look from Gucci's Spring 2011 runway where '70s era sexy was on full display. As always, I had a blast looking for pieces to pull the look together.

Check out how it all adds up below:
