Ain't No Slouch

I am obsessed with these beautifully slouchy looks seen on the Celine and (gasp) Tommy Hilfiger runways, especially the pants. Apparently Kanye West is a fan as well.

I can't wait to road test this look- I can totally see rocking some slouchy silk print pants with a fierce heel and leather tee for a night on the town.....hmmm I smell a personal style post coming on.

Sneak Peek: Studded Converse

I have an intense shoe habit. I always have and always will. While I love the added height of a high heel and the comfort of my ballet flats there is something about dope sneakers (or tennis or trainers- whatever you like to call them) that I can't resist. The more unique (read: weird) the better. I guess I am what you would call a true sneaker head.

Over the years I have put together a collection that I am pretty proud of and that's why I decided to do a regular post called Sneak Peek where I share pieces from my collection and a little more about what defines my personal style.

First up- my Green Studded Converse. I am generally not a converse type of girl, but when I stumbled upon these on the Free People website a couple years ago I knew I had to have them. Converse have an innate ease and the studs add the requisite edge the really compliments my style.

NEW NARS

Something came over me yesterday and I dropped a minor fortune at Sephora.

I am super excited about my new NARS eyeshadow in Rated R and velvet matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl... now I should really learn how to do my own makeup- lol.

Retail Math Lesson #2: Going for Gucci

I am kind of feeling a '70s disco vibe this week. The seed was planted earlier in the week when I created a Disco inspired bridal look taking cues from Bianca Jagger and the Spring '11 runways, where white and '70 styles had a major moment.

From there the next natural step was to tackle recreating a look from Gucci's Spring 2011 runway where '70s era sexy was on full display. As always, I had a blast looking for pieces to pull the look together.

Check out how it all adds up below:

Non-Traditional Bride: Disco Diva

Lately I have had a lot of fun styling looks on Shopstyle.com. This week I was inspired by the fast approaching wedding season and the challenge of creating a unique look for a non-traditional bride.

This look, inspired by the glamorous Bianca Jagger, also takes cues from the spring 2011 runways where '70 style and white were two key trends.

In true 70's style this bride is rocking a Paul and Joe Silk Crepe Jumpsuit, Prada Platforms, and an amazing "Birdcage Feather Flower" headband with veil by Tasha.

The '70's vibe keeps going with with a cuff by Alexis Bittar and silver Giuseppe Zanotti clutch with super fun chain tassel. Red lips and nails courtesy of Nars complete the look.

Last, but not least the ring- Paloma Picasso's Love and Kisses ring is the perfect non-traditional pick for a non-traditional bride.

She is ready for her spotlight!

Bill Cunningham New York

I was totally touched and inspired by Bill Cunningham New York, a wonderful documentary about the life and work of the amazing fashion/street style photographer Bill Cunningham. It is a must see for any true fashion lover. Check out the movie trailer here.

To hear and see more of Cunningham's work check out On the Street with Bill Cunningham in the online version of the New York Times.

Retail Math Lesson # 1: Recreating Rodarte

Attempting to recreate runway looks at a fraction of the price is a formidable challenge, but one of the most exciting things to do.
I, like many fashion lovers, find myself spending countless hours scouring the inventory of numerous stores to find just the right pieces.

For me, discovering the perfect parts to complete a style puzzle elicits a certain sense of euphoria. For that reason I am starting a new series of post called Retail Math- all about the elements that add up to recreate that runway inspired look or feel.

Lesson #1: Rodarte Spring 2011

H&M WaterAid Collection Dress

Jeffrey Campbell Skate

The elements needed to recreate this look are surprisingly simple- the H&M WaterAid Collection Dress mirrors the lovely blue and white print of the Rodarte original and Jeffrey Campbell's Skate bootie (also available in tan and black) hints at the sculptural beauty of the footwear seen on the runway.

Karl Lagerfeld does Coke... again

I love to collect limited edition bottles and last year I purchased some cool Coca-Cola Light bottles designed by uber-designer Karl Lagerfeld from Parisian boutique Colette (one of my faves).

This year Karl and Coke are at it again with 3 new bottles also available at Colette.

While on the site I spotted some other fun Coca-Cola bottles designed in collaboration with Daft Punk and Mika.

These bottles are a must have for any collector.
Don't sleep on these or they will be gone!

Join the Crew Part 2

My obsession with the J Crew lookbook continues for fall. I am particularly fond of the monochrome sweater and skirts looks, the cute outerwear, and the way they use strategic pops of color and print to bring each look to life. I've posted my faves below.

Can't wait until the collection is in stores!

Monday Blues

Mondays are tough, but bright blue nails make them bearable.

Flat Out Fabulous

Jeffrey Campbell  Suebee Wedge

Flatforms, the new hybrid between a flat and platform, are the "It" shoe of the season and several fashion heavyweights including Chanel, Fendi, Michael Kors, and Prada offered up drool-worthy options. Luckily for those budget challenged fashion lovers like me more affordable versions are coming out just in time for the warm weather.

I am currently obsessed with Jeffrey Campbell's Suebee Wedge available now at Solestruck in nude and yellow patent (shown above) for $135 and Lori's Shoes in black patent and nude leather for $128.

Get yours now because these bad boys are sure to sell out!
